The annual Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) End-of-Year Sports Festival successfully came to a close on Tuesday, 30th December, 2025, at the Trillium School Field, Phase III Office, Irewolede Area, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The grand finale featured an exciting soccer match in which Team Accounts & Finance Directorate defeated Team Legal & Compliance Directorate by a lone goal to emerge the overall winner in the soccer category of the 2025 edition of the KW-IRS End-of-Year Sports Festival.
The sports festival, which commenced on 8th December 2025, featured a wide range of sporting activities, including Scrabble, Chess, Classical Board Games, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Soccer, Basketball Free Throw, and a special aerobics session led by the Service’s top management team.









The annual end-of-year sports event is an initiative of the Service aimed at promoting work-life balance, fostering bonding among staff, and enhancing physical and mental fitness in preparation for the New Year.
The festival witnessed keenly contested track and field events as well as indoor games, with thrilling elimination rounds that culminated in the graceful decoration of deserving winners across the various sporting categories.
While declaring the grand finale open, the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi, commended all participants for their active involvement and dedication throughout the sporting festival. She applauded staff for exhibiting the true spirit of sportsmanship despite the competitive nature of the games. The Executive Chairman also commended the KW-IRS Soccer Head Coach, Kamal Lawal, and members of the organising committee for delivering a well-coordinated and hitch-free sports festival.
At the end of the match, trophies, medals, and certificates of participation were presented to winners and participants who displayed exceptional skills and sportsmanship. The event was witnessed by a large gathering of supporters, sports enthusiasts, friends of KW-IRS, and members of staff. Some members of the Service’s top management team were also in attendance.
In his closing remarks, the Director, Legal and Compliance, Shehu Abdullahi expressed appreciation to all participants for maintaining peace, unity, and camaraderie throughout the sports festival. He congratulated Team Accounts & Finance Directorate on their victory and commended both teams for their dedication, discipline, and fair play. He further thanked staff members and well-wishers for honouring the occasion.
The thrilling encounter ended in 1:0 in favour of Team Accounts & Finance Directorate.
