The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi, on Friday, 17th October 2025, received the 17th President/Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Innocent Ohagwa, alongside the new Chairman, CITN Ilorin & District Society, Taofiq Alabi, and his Executive Members at the KW-IRS Corporate Head Office, GRA, Ilorin.
The purpose of the visit, according to Innocent Ohagwa, was to officially invite the KW-IRS Executive Chairman to the Investiture Ceremony of the 7th Chairman and inauguration of Executive Members of the CITN Ilorin and District Society, scheduled to hold on Saturday, 18th October 2025, at the Ilorin Innovation Hub, G.R.A., Ilorin.



Ohagwa commended KW-IRS’ efforts under the headship of Shade Omoniyi, for its unwavering support to the Institute, and her consistent ingenuity that has continued to deliver remarkable contributions and notable progress to the tax administration of the State. Ohagwa, while acknowledging KW-IRS’ impactful relationship with the Institute over the years, encouraged the new executives to maintain the partnership and strengthen the bond to further improve tax advocacy and promote voluntary tax compliance across all levels in the State and Nigeria at large.
In his welcome address, the new Chairman, CITN Ilorin & District Society, Taofiq Alabi, expressed his profound gratitude to the KW-IRS boss for her untiring support of the CITN Ilorin & District Society since her assumption of office. He pledged the commitment of his administration to fostering stronger collaboration with KW-IRS and advancing the goals and objectives of the Institute. He also assured to take lead position in driving effective tax advocacy, enlightenment initiatives, as it concerns the implementation of the new tax reforms, and quality leadership that offers inclusiveness.
In her response, Shade Omoniyi warmly welcomed the CITN President and his team to the State of Harmony. She expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the long-standing cordial relationship between the Institute and the Service, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration, development of tax professionals, and investment in capacity building to improve the tax administration of the State.
Speaking on tax reforms, the KW-IRS boss, noted that the Service had constituted a five-man working committee to examine the new tax laws and identify expected impacts on the revenue administration of the State. She also assured periodic and robust advocacy and enlightenment campaigns to eliminate probable misconceptions and sensitize the public of the provisions of the new tax reforms.
Omoniyi congratulated the new executives of the CITN Ilorin & District Society, wishing them a successful and impactful tenure.
The visit also featured a tour of the ongoing Revenue House project.
In attendance were KW-IRS Directors; the Registrar/Chief Executive of CITN, Afolake Oso; State Coordinator of the Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT) Kwara Chapter, Prof Khadijat Yahaya, alongside her Executive Members; and other distinguished members of CITN.
