The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi, has issued an official directive, formally terminating the contract of all consultants engaged by the Service for haulage and control posts across the State, effective 1st January, 2026.
The official consultants’ disengagement was announced by the Executive Chairman at the KW-IRS Corporate Head Office, G.R.A, Ilorin. She stated that it is imperative to comply with the new tax reform laws that came into full implementation on 1st January, 2026, which prohibit all States’ revenue agencies and tax authorities from establishing roadblocks or barricades on major roads for haulage and control posts.
The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service is by this official communication notifying the general public of its complete termination and withdrawal of consultants, staff, or agents attached to roadblocks at various points for haulage and control posts across the State. Modalities for effective collection of haulage fees will be communicated in due course.
The Service reiterates its commitment to lawful, transparent and technology- driven revenue administration in line with global best practices
